Professor Cannon studied with Lee Strasberg, Uta Hagen , Bobby Lewis,1955-1958 and from 1965-68 was resident director-actor-teacher at Stanford Repertory Theatre, Stanford University. He has been a teacher of Acting and Directing at the University of Hawaii from 1968-present.
Cannon has been the recipient of ten awards for acting and directing from state theatre council, and was commended by Hawaii Legislature for outstanding creative work for the state. He has directed 101 plays in Hawaii and on the mainland. Some of the plays directed at UH include: Oh, What a Lovely War!, Coriolanus, Long Day's Journey into Night, West Side Story, Most Happy Fella, Carnival, Speed-the-plow, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, A Streetcar Named Desire, A View from the Bridge, Threepenny Opera.********************************
